Fashion + AI + Law

This website is still evolving. I have been writing about fashion since 2005. For nearly two decades I ran a fashion blog celebrating independent designers and innovative design. Throughout the process I networked with some amazing designers, attended some remarkable industry events, and learned a lot about the people, places, and things that move the industry. The site was hacked around 2016 and I moved on. Law came later, then Parsons, where I completed a fashion design program to better understand the process behind design: the tools, materials, and history of this ever evolving industry. This website sits at the intersection of fashion, innovation, and emerging law. The laws reshaping fashion, AI-generated imagery, synthetic models, training data, and digital replicas are moving fast. I created AI fashion law as a personal project to track and monitor the changes. While playing around with some of the code and tools I am using to track these changes, I was also able to retrieve some of my old blog posts. So this is sort of my homage to how things worked in the past, lessons learned, with an eye towards the future. Everything here is editorial. Meant to inform, not to advise. If you need legal counsel, that is a different conversation. You can reach me in my professional capacity. I use AI tools to track, monitor, and build tools to make the changes navigable. To the extent I find a certain tool helpful, I will share!

Share your story. Send me the designers I should know about.

This site runs on discovery: new work, recovered archives, and the stories at the seam of fashion, technology, and law. If you’re making something, know a designer worth celebrating, or spotted a story worth pulling on, I want to hear about it.
